At about 4PM this afternoon, Jennifer Gibbs of Clermont, has completed the paperwork to qualify to run as a Republican for the Clerk of Court position. Dwight Wood, the incumbent, still has not qualified. Now it is a three-way race with JC Smith, Bob Vass, and Jennifer Gibbs all vying for the Republican position. Jennifer joined the Hall County Republican Party today as well, but reports to me that she has been a life-long Republican voter. Welcome to Jennifer and good luck to all the candidates.
At 2 PM today Coroner Marion Merck called to let me know he will be in Thursday or Friday morning to qualify. He is out of town with his grandchildren and won’t be back until then. He told me to tell anyone interested in qualifying against him that the position is already filled! LOL! Marion is not a member of the Hall County Republican Party.
While I was in court this morning, Craig Herrington came by and qualified for School Board. Craig is a member of the Hall County GOP. Other than Craig, it has been very quiet around here. Haven’t seen the Coroner or Surveyor come in to qualify yet. Remember candidates, the qualification period is more than half way over.
