Democrats = Tax Increase * infinity.  Do you see the proof now with the Gainesville School Board?

I guess the old addage that absolute power corrupts absolutely is at play in our small town.  The quarter-million-dollar man and his handlers appear to think that they are above reproach.  Way to go Carl Rogers for reminding the city school board that they can all be “fired” in February when the General Assembly gets in session if they don’t get their act together.  Do we really want to be put in the same pot with Clayton County?  Do we want to lose accredidation?  Don’t we deserve more for our money?  Ballew and his crowd don’t think anything can happen to them.  They now know differently.

How many weeks have we gone now without an answer to the question of the missing money?  The only answer we get is that taxes have to be increased, but no idea where the money went or where it is going to go.  Ballew might as well have taken the 5th Amendment when he gave The Times an interview.  He SHOULD have had a lawyer before he did that.

The only voice objecting to the hastily constructed tax increase was Sammy Smith!  Sammy, long time Democratic activist and consultant, was the only person who demanded more information before he would vote for the budget and therefore cast the lone dissenting vote when having the budget crammed down his throat Monday night.  I have to give him credit for making the only proper decision.  I guess on a board of liberal Democrats, he is the most conservative and thoughtful of the bunch.  Maybe even Sammy is thinking of switching parties after this fiasco.

I continue to call for a GBI/law enforcement investigation, not an audit.  As a former prosecutor I KNOW that the longer the evidence is open to manipulation, the harder it is to prosecute.  In fact, this kind of delay has been used to manipulate the judicial process before.

Read The Times story here–>State legislators talk about possible bill to dissolve Gainesville school system.  Thanks to Jeff Gill who has been riding this issue hard since the beginning and to Harris Blackwood for covering the newly-emerging political angle to the story.  We should be thankful that in such a small town we have brave (yes brave) reporters who are willing to cover a story that some would like to cover up.

Speaking of brave, check out the Elephant in front of Jack Waldrip’s offices.  I guess Ballew won’t list his house with Jack when he leaves town.

(I’m not his lawyer, but I recommend that Ballew go ahead and flee the jurisdiction now.  Even those people who are blisfully unaware of the impending horrendus tax increase will know when they get the bill.  Then Ballew will need the witness protection program.  Guess he is holding out for the $500,000 golden parachute no matter the risk.)
